Diahann Carroll
The Diahann Carroll celebrity doll portrays her at 33 years old the role of Julia Baker from the 1968-1971 TV sitcom Julia. Carroll played a nurse in the first sitcom depicting an African American as not a servant or a slave. In 2009 Mattel made this 50th anniversary reproduction of the original 1969 Twist ‘N Turn doll and it retailed for $50. Diahann Carroll was an American singer, actress, activist, and model. Her career career spanned from the mid 1950s until her death in 2019. In addition to many major studio movies and Julia, she also played the diva, Dominique Deveraux , in the prime time soap opera Dynasty in the 1980s. She was a regular guest on the talk show circuit and variety specials.

Revisit the memories with this wonderful reproduction of the original Julia doll from 1969! This beautiful doll, based on the TV character played by Diahann Carroll, is housed in a striking package inspired by the original design.

The Julia reproduction doll comes wearing the same 1969 two piece white nurses uniform and cap worn by the original doll. The same face mold and body type was also used, with a twisting waist and rubber like click and bend legs. The box was also designed to closely resemble the 1969 version.
The uniform jacket has four white decorative sewed on button down the front, four faux flap pockets, and a gold rivet attached to the left chest pocket flap and opens in the front with metal hooks. The cuffs are decorated with five ball buttons on each sleeve. The skirt opens in the back. On her feet are simple closed white plastic heeled shoes.
The face is painted with brown eyes and pink lips on a Mattel Christie sculpt. The eyes have glued on doll hair lashes with silver gray eye shadow painted on the top eyelid. The rooted black hair is styled short like the original doll and held in place with heavy product. Attached to the wrist is a pink and silver Julia tag, like the original.
The doll is 8 point articulated at the neck, shoulders, waist, hips, and knees (click and bend).
Accessories include a Certificate of Authenticity and a clear plastic waist grabbing doll stand.
