Simu Liu (Ken)
The Simu Liu doll portrays him at 32 years old in the role of an alternative Ken in the July 2023 Warner Bros. Pictures comedy film Barbie The Movie, directed by Greta Gerwig. The doll was released on June 1, 2003 by Mattel as a Mattel Creations exclusive sold only on their website. The rocker Ken doll was designed by Carlyle Nuera and retailed for $50.00. Simu Liu is a Canadian actor first known for his television role as Jung Kim in the 2016-2021 Canadian sitcom, Kim’s Convenience. His biggest role to date was portraying Shang-Chi in the 2021 Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The museum has a Simu Liu as Shang-Chi action figure in the collection.

The Simu Liu Ken doll comes wearing a one-piece white and gold track suit which matches his costume in the Barbie the Movie dance scene in the Barbie dream house party. The suit is mostly white with a gold K on the chest, metallic gold blocked sleeves, and a gold stripe down the legs. The suit has a real pockets and a large working white zipper in the front. The track suit is removable.
On the feet is a pair of low white plastic sneakers.
The face is painted with brown eyes, natural pink lips, and a painted string of six black moles running from his left eye down to the bottom of the cheek. The rooted hair is black with a pompadour front and slicked down with product.
The body is an articulated original Ken with articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrist, hips, and knees. The legs only separate about 10 degrees and the torso and ankles are fixed.
Included in the box is a gold base plastic stand with a clear pole along with an official Mattel Certificate of Authenticity.
