Aailyah
The Aaliyah celebrity doll depicts her as herself at 17 in an outfit inspired by her music video “One in a Million”. Nicknamed the “Princess of R&B” and “BabyGirl”, the rising child star singer, dancer, actress, and business woman, sadly died in a plane crash with her crew on August 25, 2001 at the age of 22.
Mattel honored her with a Black Label tribute Music Series Barbie doll release on January 15, 2025 (the day before her birthday) for $55. It sold out immediately through the US Target store exclusive. Due to fan demand and influence of her brother, Mattel creations did a second release on September 22, 2025 for $60. The Barbie doll was designed by Carlyle Nuera.

Aaliyah
Doll
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Aaliyah’s debut album, Barbie™ pays homage to the “Princess of R&B.” Affectionately now as “Baby Girl,: Aaliyah was born in Brooklyn and raised in Detroit. She gained recognition at the age of 10 when she performed on a popular TV talent search show. Four years later, at the age of 14, her debut album “Age Ain’t Anything but a Number” was released; and with three million copies sold in the US alone, it was certified double platinum.
As a tribute to the influential superstar, Aaliyah Barbie® dolls wears an outfit inspired by Aaliyah’s eponymous look from her “One in a Million” music video.
From the soft, lyrical sound she dubbed “street to sweet” to her stand-out style, Aaliyah displayed an unmatched talent as a rising artist and actress. She pioneered a sound in a typically male-dominated genre that resonated with industry professionals and fans alike. Her legacy transcends music, fashion and culture, and lives on today.
SKU#: HRM80
The Aaliyah celebrity doll comes wearing an almost complete black faux leather (unfortunately it will probably crumble in less than ten years). It includes a zippered vest over a crop top and pants with studs and mesh. Pants and top have Velcro closures in the back. Separate pleather sleeves and wrapped sting bicep bands complete the outfit. On the feet are a pair of black plastic combat style boots.
The doll was packaged with double stick tape holding the zippered vest to the top on both sides. The removal of the tape leaves a distinct mark from the glue on the pleather over the center of the top’s breasts area.
The jet black hair is styled long and straight with a right side part. Eyes are painted brown, lips a natural gloss dark pink and a small mole over her right eyebrow. Silver button earrings, a black manicure, and a shiny silver jewel is glued into the belly button complete the look.
The doll body in a Mattel articulated original.
The doll comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a black plastic waist grabbing clear pole doll stand.
